Based on reviews here and elsewhere, we were looking forward to some great gulf seafood and steaks. Three people at our table got the grilled shrimp. It was terrible/borderline inedible. It had been way over marinated in Dale's or whatever marinade it was put in. It had a heavy salty taste. It was also overlooked and very rubbery. None of us could eat them. The other items we are were okay, but just okay. For the prices we paid it was a total disappointment. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant and we will not be going back again.

FOOD- BAMA shrimp are delicious! I ordered filet mignon with side salad and twice baked potato casserole. Everything was very good. The bread is also very good. SERVICE - The staff was very friendly. COMPLAINTS - Atmosphere was not so great. Our party of 6 was squeezed into a table that was way too small & uncomfortable in the back room (which was creepy). Also, one of our steaks was cooked incorrectly. By the time they corrected it and brought it back out, everyone else was finished eating. Overall - good food, bad atmosphere.

Never go to this restaurant during football season. The entire staff was standing around the bar watching the game. Our waitress brought out one steak to a party if four. I'm use to restaurants bringing the food out for the entire table at the same time. She gave the steak to the wrong person and before they realized it they had eaten about a fourth of the steak. When she came out with the rest of the food, we pointed out the mistake. We asked for a new steak to be cooked since she made the mistake and someone else had already been eating the steak. She said "what's the problem?" At that point in time we realized that the manager was standing behind us. Neither one of them offered to make their mistake right. The owners will go out of business due to their staff and manager.

Steaks on par with the big buck steak houses. If you want a great steak without the glam atmosphere this is the place. Best steak in the gulf shores area. Will return next time here on vacation. Shorts and flip flops work for this place. Great southern hospitality.

Food wasn't all that, half of my streak was fat. Very over priced for what you're getting. Service is decent.

Grilled chicken salad- failure. Chicken seemed to have the consistency of steak fat if that makes any sense. Even when carefully selecting bites to make sure there was no fat, it was still disappointing. Bamashrimp. Ok Pulled pork ok Fries, not great Waitress was friendly and provided decent service. Overheard apologies to another table about something with their food. Disappointing.

Really had a bad vibe walking into this restaurant. The workers were not happy which seem to even impact the customers who were dining there. We probably should have turned around and left but we did stay for dinner. I do have to admit our steaks were pretty good however the salad and side dishes were pathetic. They charge fine steakhouse prices but failed to deliver the quality you would expect in a good steakhouse. As for the service it was very poor. They do have ignoring customers down to a science. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Diamond Jim's and Mrs. Donna's!!!

Was not impressed, staff was courteous but we had to keep asking for refills, fixings, etc more than once. I ordered the filet and grilled shrimp, I was disappointed, beans were cold and shrimp was over-cooked Very overpriced for the food and metal seating! $125.00 for a family of 6

Look. This will be a very honest review. After the experience I had - and witnessed around me - most people would've given a 1star review. So let me explain. I read reviews about this place all over the Internet and wanted to give it a shot. I was seated immediately, looked over the menu and placed my order. I ordered the 16-18 oz ribeye, house salad and twice baked potato casserole. I got my salad immediately. But an hour and a half later my meal still hadn't arrived. Meanwhile the table next to me (party of 5) got their food before me and left. A party of six arrived and ordered theirs and got their food, ate and left. A couple arrived 30 minutes after I did - and you guessed it - ordered, ate and left before my food arrived. This is why most people would give this review 1 star. So why did I give it 5? Here's why: The wait staff was awesome and apologetic and it wasn't their fault. The manager, Denise, was so genuinely upset and unhappy with the cooks that we're on loan from somewhere else. She comped my meal without me asking. She didn't have to do that and I wasn't expecting it at all. I was impressed. But the cherry on top was that the ribeye was THE BEST STEAK I HAD THE PLEASURE OF EATING!!!!!! Ridiculously good! I would have paid twice the bill based on Denise's actions and the flavor of the meal. As I drove away, I called Denise and thanked her for a great experience. I told her things happen and they're not always good things. I will absolutely be back and recommend that you give this place a shot.

Great Restaurant! Great service during my visit. Have been here a couple of times and had a 5 star experience every time except this last one. Our table ordered 5 steaks and 2 Ribeyes, 2 Filets, and 1 NY strip and all 5 were cooked to the wrong temperature. They even had the wrong temp markers in them. They were extremely more rare than ordered. 4 out of the 5 could tolerate it but we had to send 1 back. The flavor of the steaks are delicious. Just make sure you get the right temperature of meat. The Bama shrimp and caramel cake are to die for. The steamed vegetables are terrible, taste like canned/frozen veggies. Don't get them as a side. Other than that, everything else is great!

The wait time was reasonable. The atmosphere made you fell like you were at Grandmas house. Let me just say the food is delicious. We started off with fried crab claws, which were good. We ordered The ribeye, which were a Little under cooked, but is better than over cooked. The steaks have wonderful flavor. The portion is Texas sized. Price is fair for the food and portion size. One will not leave hungry. The service however could improve. Our waitress had the attitude like "well what Ya want." My Thirteen year old even noticed the subpar service. If your all about the food you will not be disappointed. The food made up for the service.

And the hits keep on coming. A shrugged off the bad reviews again and was not disappointed. This place is worth checking out and visiting. Reasonably priced, good and friendly service and great food.

Atmosphere and service was good. I like the black vinyl booths and wood floors. The place was very busy with several large parties ahead of ours but the hostess was dead on with the wait time. The menu is limited but covered the basics. Fried fish, oysters, chicken, and steaks. Our table ordered fried oysters, shrimp po boy, pulled pork BBQ sandwich, and chicken tenders. All of which I would rate as average. The big negative......in my opinion the entire menu is overpriced by 40-50%. $18 for oysters out of a bucket, $15 for FOUR Chicken fingers and two sides, $9 each for the sandwiches NOT INCLUDING sides. Even with high prices we waited 40 minutes and the parking lot was full. But let the buyer beware- you will pay more than average for only average.

We redirected over here after being told the wait for two at Cosmo's was an hour and a half. DO NOT get the fried chicken. It was god awful dry. The waitress obviously forgot to put our order in and it took 45 min to get our food when there was barely anyone here. Keep driving...

Great food and service, I was a regular at the original DJ's in Livingston, AL and was thrilled when I found out they opened a location in Orange Beach. Was in the area for a friend's wedding and had to stop by. I had an awesome ribeye perfectly cooked and met the awesome and nice staff, highly recommend it! Prices do seem high, but so are most restaurants in high tourist areas. Definitely beats going to a chain restaurant!

We LOVED this place! Steaks were best any of us have had & that's coming from 3 men in our group! We are in this area 6 weeks out of the year so we've eaten everywhere around orange beach & gulf shores, this is by far our absolute favorite!!!

We had a great experience here. The staff was friendly & attentive, and the owners even stopped by to check in on each of the tables. The food was absolutely amazing! I ordered the filet w/ twice baked potatoes & baked beans. The beans were good, the potato casserole was GREAT. And the steak...honestly, the best steak I have ever eaten!! It was like my mouth was doing a happy dance. The food is a little pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

I had the fried chicken and it was so bland I couldn't even finish. I ended up eating off my boyfriends plate which was all seafood and I absolutely loved the fried crab legs!! I wish I would have ordered that alone!! The twice baked potato casserole is amazing and I wish I could have had more. Our waitress was rushing us in the end but I assumed it was because they were going to close soon. Other than that the place was nice and the food other than the chicken was good.

I would have given a 0 star rating, but I couldn't. I have NEVER in my ENTIRE LIFE been as disrespected and talked down to as I was tonight. I'm sure that many people have had an extremely pleasant experience and enjoyed fabulous food at Diamond Jim's in Orange Beach, but I am here to tell you that tonight was my first and LAST visit to that place. We had a party of 13 people with a total bill of no less than $500 (probably closer to $750 after liquor was added) spent in the establishment tonight. Only 2 of the 13 food orders were cooked properly. We happen to have an expecting mother in our group who ordered a well-done steak and was presented with a medium cooked steak (a $40 steak mind you). The manager of the restaurant had the audacity to come out into the dining room and tell her that had half of the steak not been eaten, there would have been something he could have done, but that at this point, all he was willing to do was to throw the remaining half (pieces and all) back on the grill. He was not willing to listen to the fact that this expecting mother and father ordered the "Big Mike" meal and elected to pay the menued $8 upcharge to share the entree which was the very reason that half on the steak was eaten. The manager then proceeds to bring the steak that was twice cooked back out absolutely BURNT - to the point that a dog would not have eaten it. Upon me asking the manager if he would eat the steak in the condition that it was in, this fool decides that he is going to take a step towards me, put his finger in my face and tell me that we need to pay our checks and get out. I tell him that I want the owner's phone number, and he tells me that he will call the owner himself because we going to pay for that steak, he didn't care what I said. Someone in our group stopped my 6'4" husband from laying that HMFIC out when he came at me like he did. After I got off the phone with the owner (because the manager called him), the steak WAS taken off the check. So much for his POS self winning that battle, because after I was done saying what was to be said, he had to take the steak off anyway! Once again, I WILL NEVER GO BACK - PERIOD!!!

Wow, the first to review! *** 2 1/2 Stars *** My husband and I were invited to a celebratory dinner and were of course eager to 1) go to Alabama for the first time, and 2) try a new restaurant that no one had ever reviewed before. It wasn't until today that I happened upon their website. I had looked all last week for a website, a review a photo of a menu, something....with no avail. Food: The husband and I shared a massive 36 ounce rib eye steak. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. My favorite part of the meal was the potato casserole, which was absolutely amazing. I could have eaten a whole plate of that if it wasn't so sinful. We wanted to order appetizers but nothing sounded appealing. Prices: Our meal with a few beers was about $70. Service: We had the most adorable waitress. She was patient and helpful for our large group. Ambiance: No frills here, it's got an old country feel to it. Lots of wood, and it's pretty dim inside. The bathroom was odd, it had a collapsible plastic drape type thing in lieu of doors? Bottom LIne: We will definitely be back to see more of Orange Beach, AL, but will probably skip on Diamond Jim's.

Do youself a favor and skip this hole in the wall, and enjoy a nice dinner somewhere else. Worst experience I've had in a restaurant, EVER. We chose this place after reading reviews about how great food was despite bad service and shady atmosphere. Sounds to me like those people were the exception. The place looks very shady, it was hot in the dining room, a lady across from us was visibly sweating. The menu is very limited and over-priced, we started to leave after ordering drinks and look for something better but decided to give it a try, BIG MISTAKE! We ordered 3 of the BIG ribeye's, 2 medium rare and 1 medium. After waiting over 30 minutes for the food to arrive (not seeing our server or any bread or drink refills the whole time) the steaks were obviously overcooked - Med was Well Done and Med-Rare was Mid-Well , but we were willing to overlook that and eat them anyway. But we could not, there was so much season salt they were inedible. We reluctantly sent them back, but figured as much as we were paying ($24 each) we should be able to eat it. The server apologized and took them but avoided us until after waiting another 30 minutes, we got our steaks back, less seasoning but they were now way undercooked. We sent them back again. Another 20 minutes and they arrived all cooked correctly except one but we were done dealing with the kitchen on steak temp and ate them. At no time did a manager come to our table, but we did see her checking on the table of regulars next to us, only some half hearted "I'm sorry about that's" from our server, and we were presented with the whole bill, $140.00. Nothing was comped, no desert was offered, nothing to help us leave on a positive note. I will be emailing their owners to let them know they really need to hire a kitchen staff who knows how to cook a steak if they plan to charge that much. Even the best kitchen can have an off night, but when that happens, the managment is supposed to make it right for the customer.

Had the 16-18 oz ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. The steak had a very nice char to it and easily as good as Ruth's Chris. For my two side option I chose a side salad with homemade 1000 island very nice, as well as the twice baked potato casserole which was delicious. For dessert I chose the caramel cake for desert very good. If your looking for a great steak with a friendly staff this is the place.

Enjoying a low key vacation in Orange Beach & decided to try Diamond Jim's & Mrs Donna's per the recommendation of a neighbor in the complex we were staying at for the week. The ribeye steak & the filet were great & prepared at just the proper temperature & the twice baked potato casserole was absolutely delish! We topped off the evening with a piece each of their homemade chocolate & caramel cakes & my goodness whatta treat that was! The service was attentive, the food was fantastic. The personal "down home" hospitality of the proprietors, Jim & Donna Dial, was so endearing we're sure to make this a regular stop during our next visit to OB.

My family and I walked into this place based on the fact that the parking lot was very full. We wanted to enjoy a meal off the beaten path. We were knocked back back by a horrible smell, we assumed it was the bathrooms right by the front door. We ventured further in and the staff seemed friendly, but the smell lingered into the whole restaurant. Then when we saw the health code rating, we decided to leave.
